Richard Henry Cooper, Age 26
Private, 42989, 7th Battalion, King's Shropshire Light Infantry.
Richard was born and living in Dawley on his enlistment, and was the son of Mrs Elizabeth Cooper
Richard died of wounds on the 28th September 1918 during the battle of Canal du Nord, The 7th KSLI were part of an attack with the objective of capturing Flesquieres on 27th Sept, they suffered 37 killed and 127 wounded, one of these must have been Richard.

The only Richard I can find is Richard Henry Cooper whose father was Mr Richard Cooper and mother Elizabeth,
He was born at Horsehay and lived at Woodhouse Lane in 1901, he’s age is different but he may have lied about
his age as he would have been only 16 in 1914, in 1911 the family was living at No 1 Gas House Row,
Chapel Street, Dawley, but moved to 15, Wilmot Road, Old Park, and again they moved to 4, Freeston Terrace, Priorslee.
Richard's grave is in the Grevillers cemetery on the Somme, Grave Ref: XIII. A.21
